Welcome to Worship!
If this is your first time at JOY, you will be our honored guest. We want you to feel comfortable from the moment you walk through our door. Here are a few frequently asked questions to help you plan your visit.
WHERE DO WE MEET?
We currently meet in the Lincoln Fair Plaza, 833 N. Lincoln Road, Escanaba. We are located between Jet’s Pizza and Richardson Jewelers.
We are searching for a new and larger location so that this ministry may continue to grow.
WHEN DO WE MEET?
Faith Formation for youth (Kindergarten through 5th Grade) meets Sundays at 9:30 am during the school year. Worship for all ages is held Sunday at 11:00 am. Special mid-week worship is held during the Seasons of Advent and Lent.
WHAT ARE SERVICES LIKE?
All of our worship services have a traditional yet casual atmosphere. We follow a traditional liturgy. The word liturgy literally means “the work of the people.” Parts of the worship service are sung; parts follow a call-and-response pattern. Active worshipers are integral to the
interaction between the pastor and the congregation so that the worship service flows. Hymns vary from traditional
to modern, depending upon the lessons chosen for a given Sunday.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
We suggest arriving ten minutes before service begins so that you have time to be greeted, familiarize yourself with our worship materials, and prepare yourself to worship God.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
Come as you are. The environment is casual so you will see a variety of dress styles from jeans and t-shirts to an occasional suit and tie. Come dressed however you are comfortable!
DO I NEED TO BRING A BIBLE?
If you own a Bible, you may bring it. Our pastor preaches and teaches from the Bible. Our pastor teaches from the English Standard Version (ESV) Bible, but feel free to bring along whichever version you have. If you do not have a Bible, the Bible readings for a given Sunday are printed on a handout so you can follow along.
WHAT DO YOU OFFER FOR GUESTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS?
Lincoln Fair Plaza’s parking lot includes several handicap parking spaces and our location is wheelchair accessible with handicap bathrooms.
WHO CAN RECEIVE COMMUNION?
All baptized Christians, baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who have received communion in their home congregation are welcome at the Lord's Table.
